Thanks for visiting the Alabama Watermelon Association website!

The Alabama Watermelon Association is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote the state's watermelon industry throughout the state of Alabama and across the United States. The AWA represents every industry member, from the grower or shipper, to the bin or seed company.

We promote Alabama watermelon primarily through the Watermelon Queen Program. Our queen will be our spokesperson for the year and will educate those she encounters about the many benefits of watermelon and all the interesting facts including how to pick the perfect melon!

Queen Program

The Alabama Watermelon Association is searching for an enthusiastic and professional representative who will become the Promotional Ambassador for the association for the upcoming year. She will make appearances at Welcome Centers, Supermarkets, Parades, Festivals, Schools, TV Interviews, as well as many other functions scheduled to promote the watermelon industry. The Queen will be a paid public relations representative and will also receive scholarship money. Upon completion of her reign, she will compete for the title of National Watermelon Queen at the National Watermelon Association's Annual Convention.
